Making Serious Progress
April 22, 2009
I don’t know what came over me today, but I made some serious progress in the unpacking department. I made it through 12 boxes and then 6 boxes of our framed artwork and mirrors. So what’s left:
* two boxes of Bill’s stuff which I opened, but he really needs to do those
* 3 boxes of garage stuff which we will do together
And that’s it for the garage. However, the garage is in desperate need of organization. Stuff we were keeping got put onto shelves to give us space to move around. Plus, we have a relatively large pile of garage sale stuff taking up space (both floor space and shelf space).
The inside of the house still needs some work. Mainly, stuff just needs to be put away. With 95% of it, I know where it’s going, it just hasn’t gotten in there yet. I think if I attack it room by room, it shouldn’t be too bad (as there aren’t that many rooms).
So yay! I feel there is an end in sight!

Greetings From California!
April 21, 2009
Well, it’s finally happened. I live in California now. The last 6 weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind. We got on an offer on the house, prayed it would go to closing, took care of all the stuff that selling a house entails, gave notice at work, had Mom help with the packers and movers, and moved in with a friend for two weeks until I flew out here. Crazy!
I’ve been out here for two and a half weeks already, but it has gone by very quickly. I’m still getting through boxes, we have about 20 left, but have already gone through about 100-110. Our house in California is smaller than our house in Maryland so we are finding lots of things to sell at a garage sale. We’re slowly settling in, but I’m hoping that 95% of the work will be done by May 1.
I haven’t had any time for crafting, though I’m hoping that will change soon. My craft studio is almost done and I’ve got lots of projects to work on. I want to find a knitting group and it looks like there are quite a few in the area. And I’m having a grand re-opening sale at my Etsy store in May so I need to get some things done for that.
I also have to find a job, which I will start doing very soon, but in the meantime, I’m keeping out of trouble.

About Me
Welcome to my spot on the web where I talk about needlework, crafts, and [many] other random things.
A few tidbits about me: I met my husband in college, flirting over tuba letters in the Penn Band. Our dog, CJ, and our cat, Sabrina, round out our family. I'm a sewist, knitter and needlepointer, and an occasional scrapbooker. I love organizing, reading, making jewelry, and hiking. A Chicago girl at heart, I am an avid follower the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks.
You can email me at mlynapier [at] pobox [dot] com. Thank you for stopping by!
