Cat On A Hot Tin Roof

May 31, 2012

There is a little black kitters named Gracie that lives in San Jose.  Gracie was a little miffed at her parents for going out of town and leaving her with the d-o-g.  A very nice pet sitter came in several times a day to play with Gracie, but it wasn’t the same.  One day, a Saturday to be exact, after the PS gave Gracie lots of love and attention, Gracie decided to run past the PS as the door was opened to let the d-o-g out.  Once outside, Gracie immediately regretted her decision, but it was too late.  No retreat, full steam ahead.  The nice PS tried to get Gracie to come back inside, but Gracie would have anything to do with that.

Gracie found a place to hide and watched as the PS and some neighbors looked for her.  It was scary outside and she didn’t know those people so she stayed put.  The PS continued to look for her the next day, and the next.  One day, the PS saw Gracie sunning herself in the neighbor’s yard, enjoying the fresh air and warmth.  Gracie wasn’t ready to be home yet so she hid again.  The next day, Gracie found her way to the roof of her house.  She even said hi to the nice PS but still wouldn’t come home.

On the 4th day of her adventure, Gracie’s people came home.  Gracie heard them calling for her, but she was scared and/or mad.  (She is not very tuned into her emotions so she can’t tell us which she was feeling.)  After three hours of her people being home, Gracie’s momma spied her on the roof in the front of the house.  Still scared/mad, Gracie retreated into a hiding place she found.  All her momma could see was two yellow-green eyes.  Gracie’s papa brought out a ladder, a plate of food and one of her toys.  The mama talked to her and tried to coax her out and eventually, Gracie came.  She was powerful hungry!  But then her mama grabbed her and tried to pull her off the roof.  Gracie dug her claws in and fought. Then papa had his hands on her but Gracie had a grip on the gutter and almost got back on the roof but at last she was in her papa’s arms on terra firma.  Gracie was brought inside the house and locked in a bathroom.  After all that, reduced to being locked in a bathroom!  She was happy to see her people and even happier for food.  Her people pet her and loved her and fed her but still kept her locked in the bathroom all night.  They said something about her being dirty, wanting to make sure she used the litter box and other junk like that.

i have no idea what to caption this

The next morning, Gracie’s papa put her in a carrier and took her to the vet to make sure she was okay.  Gracie is very much looking forward to being home with her people.  She really just wants to curl up on her mama’s lap and be pet.  Gracie is sorry for causing so much drama.  Her people were able to enjoy their vacation although they were constantly worrying about her.  The poor PS, who was beside herself through the whole ordeal, is extremely relieved Gracie is home safe.  Gracie’s people are hoping she didn’t enjoy her walkabout and that she won’t try it again.

Beautiful pictures especially the one of grandpop and Joshua. The little guy was definitely pooped at the end of the game.
    Great-grandma looks the same! Amazing.

Oh Margaret how upsetting for you. I’m so glad that she is back safe and sound. Do be careful of open doors though. It has been my experience that once they experience the great outdoors they will try to get back there when they can. Just an adventure to her – she has no idea of the dangers.

Looks like everyone had an exciting week, and not just the travelers! My heart goes out to that poor pet sitter though…
