Bill and I drove down to Santa Cruz today for some quality beach time. I’ve been craving some time by the water. I could go by myself during the week, but this week did get kinda busy. And then today I contemplated staying home today and doing miscellaneous chores, but in the end we packed our bags for the beach.

We opted for the undeveloped beach a little further south of downtown Santa Cruz. It was uncrowded and pretty quiet. Very peaceful. And windy. And a wee bit chilly. Our first clue should have been all the people we saw in hoodies. It was partly cloudy and very pleasant and comfortable when the sun was out, and a little cooler when it wasn’t. We enjoyed two hours outside, listening to the waves and reading our books. It was very beautiful though, especially the little stream I photographed.

It was quite relaxing and next time will be better…because I will bring a sweatshirt!

Well, it’s finally happened. I live in California now. The last 6 weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind. We got on an offer on the house, prayed it would go to closing, took care of all the stuff that selling a house entails, gave notice at work, had Mom help with the packers and movers, and moved in with a friend for two weeks until I flew out here. Crazy!

I’ve been out here for two and a half weeks already, but it has gone by very quickly. I’m still getting through boxes, we have about 20 left, but have already gone through about 100-110. Our house in California is smaller than our house in Maryland so we are finding lots of things to sell at a garage sale. We’re slowly settling in, but I’m hoping that 95% of the work will be done by May 1.

I haven’t had any time for crafting, though I’m hoping that will change soon. My craft studio is almost done and I’ve got lots of projects to work on. I want to find a knitting group and it looks like there are quite a few in the area. And I’m having a grand re-opening sale at my Etsy store in May so I need to get some things done for that.

I also have to find a job, which I will start doing very soon, but in the meantime, I’m keeping out of trouble.
